Well........... I really don't know where to start!
Perhaps at the beginning would be a reasonable start.
When we arrived here at Toronto West KOA we immediately called Rita's sister Terry and arranged to visit them that evening. The following three days Terry & Ross were solidely booked up. Thursday, two Dr's appointments, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Friday was another Dr's day and Saturday was booked up in making arrangements to retrieve their RV from where it was stored in Milton. But we had a very enjoyable reunion with them. Ross is suffering the "Golden Years" with his heart condition (just out of hospital from a heart attack), 24 hr oxygen, and now suffering from an Easter Day fall down his basement stairs. He is black and blue (frankly I've never seen such an extensive bruising) from just above his waist to the upper parts of his legs and the shoulder he landed on. We have been trying to phone today (Sun) to get another chance to visit before we hit the trail tomorrow morning. I think maybe a good thing that I forgot my camera that day.
Thursday afternoon Pat Henthorn-Tapia and Mado Henthorn looked us up here at the KOA and we had a very nice afternoon talking and sipping the vino. They invited us to Mado's home for dinner on Saturday.
Immediately after they left Gord and Linda Campbell showed up to take us to Milton and the Swiss Chalet. We had a wonderful talk fest before we left because we had not seen each other since the first trip to Corpus Christi where they parked their trailer across from ours for about a month. The Swiss Chalet was an excellent choice, Gord, because like the Tim Horton's, we haven't been to Swiss Chalet since last summer in Charlottetown when we went with our good friends Richard and Anne Harvey. I could not remember the (secret) code for the Campground so Gord and Linda let us off at the gate and Rita and I enjoyed a beautiful star filled stroll back to the trailer. What a wonderful close to a great day, I love walking with my sweetie! (contrary to what some of you think about my walking)
On Friday morning Rita & I hunted down a Michael's Craft Store with Linda's directions and I was surprised we didn't get lost. Had a sub at Subways and headed for a quick lay-down at the trailer because in the afternoon, old 'Numbnuts', our GPS led us to the residence of Claire and Lawrence Murphy. Lawrence, Rita and I enjoyed a bit of libation and discussion until it was time to pick up Claire at work. We went to dinner at a little restaurant called 'David's' anyone in the area should think of having dinner at Davids it was terrific. The owner asked if we would like something to drink to start off the evening meal and Rita said that she'd love to have a sweet white wine. He nodded at Rita and went off to the bar. He returned later with two white wines for the ladies, set Rita's down in front of her and gently pulled a packet of sugar out of the sugar dish and placed it beside her glass. No smile, but with the eyes shining in amusement. Rita thought it was terrific. A great choice Lawrence and Claire. We spent much of the light of the evening driving about the University where I spent three months of my life on a Dairy Short Course back in 1965. The last road we passed by I recognized as the Dairy Building where I did my studies and the Admin building and residences directly across the street. I was delighted! The whole town seemed to be University.
The rest of the evening was of course taken up with playing cards. And I'm proud to tell you that the boys beat the girls (right after the game that the girls whooped the guys.)
We arrived home shortly before midnight and Na!, Na!, we should not do midnights!
We have to really get up early on Saturday morning because we have a breakfast appointment with the old gang from home. You know those fellows who actually moved from the Island to take up residence here in Ontario????
That appt. was for 8am and we had to travel the 401 and the 400 to reach Bradford and find Wimpy's Rest. We were caught in the 50's again. Sandy showed up and made our circle complete except we missed Edwin! Of course we've been missing Edwin for three years now.
We all retired to Ron and Judy's home and stayed until we had to leave to meet Mike and Mado Henthorn at the Campground where they were to pick us up to take us to Oakville for dinner with them and Pat. We ate, drank, and talked about our loved ones all evening. Thank you Mike, Mado and Pat for such a fine evening. The drive back was a bit troublesome with a thunder storm in progress. I again forgot the code to the campground code and Rita and I again had a nice walk to the unit,,,,,,,,,,only this time around and through the puddles (no stars).
It's 1 pm and still no contact with Rita's sister so don't know whether we'll be able to see them this afternoon.
Two days ago I had a message on the computer from Dick Rankin saying I see you are in the Toronto area. Sally and I are in Kingston visiting their son and when you're going bye the 401 drop in for a Tim Hortons. We shall be booking in at a campground there in Kingston and spending some time with our old Summerside friends. We're hoping from there to get to Elise and Guy's place in Grenville sur la Rouge, PQ and hoping to backtrack with the truck to visit Ottawa. We're guessing from here on! The trip is taking it's tole and we can't seem to get rested.... I don't suspect it's our age, would you??
Don't answer that question!!!!
I think I've talked too much so will talk at yah later.
See Y'all
Love
