Our first night stopover, at a rest area about 60kms from Ceduna, turned out to be successful even though we didn't get much sleep. I think not sleeping well also had to do with the whole nervous excitement and anticipation at what we had ahead of us, including our future travels. With the disturbed sleep we all had, especially mine, we eagerly got to move on. So, we set our sights for Breakfast at Ceduna.
As our travels to WA had been delayed by a few days it meant the trip to WA had to change. Also, with cats involved it became rather trickier, as the travels progressed.
It all was all initially planned that we go to Wickepin, with the cats, first and to be there on the day of the Wickepin School 'End of Year' Concert Night. Then onto Perth for Christmas. This had already changed before we left as we knew it would be impossible, with cats and kids, to reach Wicky in time. But we decided to still make our first WA stopover as Wicky. We stopped in at Ceduna and had a late breakfast. Then we had a brief look around, showed the girls where we stayed the night on our bus trip to Murray River with Sands, Dougalls and Fleay/Medcalf and continued on. We stopped on the Nullarbor so the girls could see the Great Australian Bight. It was mighty windy and though the view was awe inspiring, the wind made us all rather nervous. So, knowing we would get the chance to see the Bight again, on our way back, we continued on.
As we got closer to the border we were excited at the thought of crossing over into WA. Even better was when we reached Border Village and saw the Quarantine area. We stopped at Border Village, got ourselves organised and went through the Quartantine without any dramas and over into WA. It was goodbye SA and Hello WA. We continued on until we got to Cockebiddy and camped there on our second night out in the caravan. Melissa and Christine were keen to have a steak so we decided that a restaurant meal was in order. After an enjoyable meal, dessert and drink we headed to the caravan, had a shower then read and went to bed. This time we opened up both bed ends and the girls slept on their side and we on the other.
