Our RV trip around Atlantic Canada 2009 travel blog

Barrow-in-Furness

South of Labrador City

We caught the taxi to Heathrow.

Booked in and got our boarding passes. Then booked in our baggage. First two bags went in no problem. Third bag was 8 Kg over weight. We said not possible (we had weighed them previously). Booking lady then noticed that Flynn was leaning on the weighing scales and adjusting our weights!!!

We then went up to departures.

We put our hand luggage through the scanners.

Flynn went through the security gate and set the alarms off. (We think it might have been the large button on his trousers)

Went to our departure gate and arrived a little early. We sat and had a drink whilst we waited. Flynn asked for an apple but wanted to save it later.

Boarded the plane and took our seats, just behind the wing, over the engines.

Taking off from the runway we then had to swing around 180 degrees to aim for Canada.

Ended up flying over Luton, Coventry, Manchester before leaving UK just south of Barrow-in-Furness.

Flynn spotted an offshore wind farm.

We flew over the Isle of Man before climbing up to 38000ft above the clouds so we missed Ireland.

The next land we saw was Labrador. Glimpsing pockets of land through holes in the cloud.

Flynn decided that he would go to the toilet. Once in here the captain asked everyone to return to their seats as there was suddenly a lot of turbulence. (I say no more)

On returning to our seats the captain increased altitude to 40000ft and the ride smoothed out. Flynn was not phased by this just wondered why the toilet was wobbling.

Landed in Toronto 7hours after leaving London.

On entering immigration control asked if we had anything to declare, we were informed that the apple Flynn had insisted that we bought for him was an illegal import and would have to be disposed of before leaving arrivals.

Collected our luggage from the baggage islands and proceeded to our hotel bus.

The Days hotel normally has check in at 1500hrs, as we had no hiccups along the way, so we were 3 hours early, but they had a room ready for us so we settled in for the day (night in UK).

Arranged taxi to take us to the RV centre in the morning after breakfast.
