We arrived in Edmonton on Tuesday after leaving Calgary in the morning. After we set up camp, we drove into town to look around and make the proverbial visit to the mall. The one thing that can be said for the West Edmonton Mall is its size, its huge. Suanne's eyes lit up when we got inside. To see an ice rink, water park, miniature golf, midway rides and even a casino under the same roof. My daughter would have enjoyed this place.
On Wednesday, we took a walk along the Saskatchawan River and through the downtown area. The walk also took us above the municipal golf course. The course was tree lined and hilly sitting in the river valley.
That evening we took a tour with a local guide to Elk Island National Park. This park was created as the first wildlife preserve in Canada in 1906 and has been a primary resource for the preservation of endangered animals. As we traveled through the park we were able to see two different types of bison, the woods and plains bison, beavers, deer, elk and lots of different birds. There are other animals including moose and porcupine in the park but they chose to enjoy their solitude this evening.
