Machu Picchu, undiscovered by the Spanish Conquistadores, and hidden until Hiram Bingham stumbled upon it in 1911 (while looking for Vilcabamba, another Inca city), was definitely worth the effort. We arrived at sunrise of the fourth day of our Inca Trail trek. We toured the ruins all morning and made it back to Cusco that night and each of us had hour-long massages.
