Benton says the hopelest town of Hope

A local resident in Hope

Portage Glacier is about 50 miles from Anchorage at that mouth of the Kenai peninsula. After our wonderful bear outing we came here for one night dropped the fifth wheel and went exploring. Went to the small town of Hope, small!!! out on the Kenai Penn. old mining town, some fisher people their, and old buildings, so we left and went to Girdwood which is about 35 or so miles from Anchorage. It is a ski resort very much like Squaw Valley. We took the tram up to the top and enjoyed a view of the resort below and some glaciers to the side. It is the only real ski resort in all of Alaska.
