August 19 – Wednesday
Today was travel day – leaving our lovely camping spot at Paul & Mary’s we journeyed on to Toronto – only 107 kms. The traffic wasn’t too bad today, except slower through a construction area. We arrived at our campsite in Toronto – Indian Line Campground, by noon so had an afternoon to do laundry, get some groceries, fill propane tanks etc. Wal Mart Super Store is a good place to shop!!!
August 20 – Thursday
The weather forecast was for thunder showers today, but it was another hot day as we left “home” this morning at 9:00 to drive about 24 kms to the closest subway station. We then took the subway to downtown Toronto and to the CN Tower. We had a lovely lunch in the revolving restaurant as we took in the views of Toronto and Lake Ontario. It was a fairly clear day so able to see quite a distance.
Our next stop was at the Casa Loma , Toronto’s majestic castle. This 300 foot high medieval-style castle, built by Sir Henry Pellatt in 1911-1914, has a unique architecture, its 98 rooms beautifully furnished. An 800 foot tunnel leads to the stables which are quite luxurious with the floor clad in Spanish tiles!! Quite an interesting castle to visit.
Driving back to our campsite we went through a very heavy rain shower. In the evening we enjoyed a visit by Gary’s sister, Irene and her husband Keith amidst the lightening & thunder and heavy rain. We are very thankful for a dry “house”. The rainbow following the storm and the evening western sky was another picture moment.
