It rained all day. We spent the day in the truck with just short walks at bear hot spots. First thing in the morning we saw two young male grizzles swimming in a pool, catching fish and challenging each other. Later as we traveled the dike road along the Salmon River we saw three Black Bears, one crossing a road and two feeding on berries. We celebrated my 60th birthday at the Bitter Creek Inn. Their claim to fame was feeding Al Pacino and the cast of “Insomnia” a thriller filmed in the Stewart and Hyder area. The steak that I had was Pacino’s favorite and also has my stamp of approval.
