At the gate to the Parliament buildings - after the downpour!

It was just a simply beautiful, sunshiny day for our tour of Parliament Hill. The grounds with the many statues, floral displays, various buildings, the Rideau Canal - I was mesmerized by all the sights. We were deluged with a huge rainshower exactly at the 2:05pm scheduled time of our indoor tour - we were gathered outside at the time, under a canopy - but had to make a mad dash through the pouring rain to get to the inside. The tour was fascinating....it was a first for me. Very informative. Beautiful architecture throughout. The absolute highlight for me, was the unscheduled tour of the library we were allowed to go see. It is the one part of the entire building site that was not destroyed by fire. Books lined the room all around. Gorgeously stunning woodwork was displayed throughout. We were not allowed to speak in here, as there were people at work; and no pictures were allowed to be taken... they live on only in our memories. What a priceless learning experience!
