There’s really not much to say about a transit stop at Lester B. Pearson Airport in Toronto except to say that it was wonderful to be on our way to Madrid and the start of our fourth year on the road. This was the first time we set off from Canada with a fellow traveler and the first time that we have traveled alone with my sister Donna.
Way back in June when we booked out flight to Spain, we had a hard time deciding what date to leave. We wanted to stay in Edmonton long enough to attend the wedding of our dear friend Gayatri Kembhavi and felt it was auspicious especially as she was marrying a young man she met in London who happened to be born in Spain. However, we didn’t want to leave too late either and miss the great weather during the month of September either.
At last, I suggested to Anil that there couldn’t be a better day to leave that his birthday, as this year it happened to fall on a very lucky date – 09/09/09. We have both always loved numbers and this just seemed to be a great way to start to another adventure.
We didn’t find any particularly good food to eat in the airport, but Donna treated us in honour of Anil’s birthday. Before we knew it, the three hours had passed and we were boarding our flight for our first real foray into a European country. With all the traveling we have done, it’s hard to believe that we have yet to explore continental Europe.
