Bryggen in Bergen

Today is my brother's birthday. To celebrate, we took the ferry from Flam to Gudvangen, a beautiful trip through the fjords. The woman who ran the campground told us it was the first sunny day in three weeks, so we were feeling lucky. From Gudvangen, it was a 1 hour bus ride to Voss. That busdriver really earned his money. The road was so narrow, steep and windy that the bus had to stop and do three point turns around the corners. Luckily the views were so breathtaking that it took our minds off of how scarey the ride was. We had one more leg of the jouney from Voss to Bergen by train. It rains 360 days a year in Bergen which means that the flower beds in this seaport town are gorgeous, but the makes the sight seeing a little tiresome. We stayed at a YMCA hostel here that the kids loved- they had a tv- their first in two weeks, that showed the Simpsons several times a day in English. They also enjoyed talking with other travellers from all over the world. We met a couple from Canada and walked around the port with them for awhile.
