(Ron Writing) It was cold again last night and about 43° when we awoke. We leave the heat off during the night – just use some heavy blankets to stay snug. The furnace and catalytic heater warms the trailer quickly after we get up in the morning. Then the catalytic heater keeps it warm until the sun takes over. That happened fairly early this morning since it was clear and beautiful again today.
The mall where we parked had open WiFi in the food court area so we went there to do some internet work this morning before continuing our drive southwest on highway 132.
Today’s drive started right along the coast much like yesterday’s but later ran down an valley slightly inland. To the north of us were some high hills and then the St. Lawrence River or Gulf of St. Lawrence. It’s not clear exactly where the “river” ends and the “gulf” begins. The river just slowly gets wider as it flows into the gulf, and the gulf is wide on the east end and slowly narrows down to the mouth of the river on the west end. All along the wide valley is farm land on rolling hills. To the south of the valley are hills and forested land. We saw some beef cattle but mostly dairy cattle and horses. There were several farmers out baling hay – last cutting before the snow flies I suppose.
By late afternoon we arrived in Riviere-du-Loup and our GPS took us right to the Wal*Mart where we are parked for the night.
We had great weather again today. It’s still only getting up into the high 50’s or low 60’s but clear and sunny with only a light breeze.
Elena made a very delicious German potato salad and that along with some ham and a lettuce salad made a great dinner.
