Or rather I wished it were oh so quiet today. Woke up with an rather awful hangover after a few too many glasses of bubbles last night. I must be out of practice! So once again, blaming jet lag (!) I had a very long lie in.
When I eventually surfaced, head still thumping, I thought I'd try the Art Gallery again. Fortunately today it was open and I'm so glad I made it. The building (good old Frank Gehry again) is stunning, recently redone I think, and their collections are really well put together. Not the standard lumping together of art movements, but they've built collections around concepts or in keeping with the way the art would have been exhibited in it's particular time. I've not really seen this done very often and I think galleries should do it more as it brings a really interesting perspective to the pictures/art. Will take art bore hat off now!
They also had a very comprehensive collection of Canadian art, mostly the Group of Seven who's work I really liked, possibly because so much of the subject matter is the lakes/mountains of the Canadian Rockies so it reminded me of all the places I visited on my last trip. There was also a large collection of Henry Moore sculptures and some cool modern photography exhibits, so all in all a very enjoyable afternoon even with a sore head.
I met up with one of the Aussie guys for dinner at an excellent Mexican and managed to force down a giant sized mango margaritta - hair of the dog works every time. :-)
