Arrived in Ottawa on 16th to get our visas at the Indian and China embassies and to visit friends and daughter Victoria.
Plan: arrive India embassy 10 a.m. Wednesday the 16th submit application, pick up visa 4:30 p.m.same day(according to India Embassy website) Arrive China embassy 9 a.m. Thursday, submit application, pick up visa Friday, enjoy company of friends and family, depart Saturday the 19th.
Outcome: arrived India embassy 10 a.m. Wednesday thge 16th submitted application picked up visa 4:30 p.m. Monday the 21st !!!. Enjoyed company of friends and family, departed for Charlotte, North Carolina USA Tuesday the 22nd.
We will now get our China visa when we visit our son in Vancouver and will allow plenty of time for processing, lesson learned. Worst case: we will fly from Hong Kong to Hanoi and avoid the overland route through China.
Our heartfelt thanks to Bill and Jose for their warm hospitality while we waited patiently for our India visa.
