Where in the world........ travel blog

Mike and I spent 3 days in the Tuscan region but wish that we had a few extra days as there was so much more we wanted to see and do, but I guess we can save that for another trip in the future. Our first day was spent in Florence, simply exploring the city and sights, which included The statue of David, Vecchio Bridge, Churches, museums churches museums etc. We also took a Bus to the village of Fiesole which overlooked Florence and the Floretine mountains. Unfortunately, due to heat the view was a bit hazy. However we had lunch on the other side and had a beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside.

Our second say we went to Cinque Terre which is a provincial park on the Italian Coast, that consists of 5 villages. It took us over 3 hours to get there and 3 hours to get back but it was well worth it. The views along the Hike were amazing, old villages on cliffs overlooking the sea. It took us about 3.5 hrs to do the whole hike, and it was not easy as it was so hot and probably partially due to the fact that we have not exercised in over 6 weeks.

Our third and last day was sent in Siena , south of Florence. We spent the day touring the city, which is n the heart of Tuscany and topped it off with 2 bottles of Chianti wine, which was mainly consumed by Mike BTW:). We had to catch a train back to Rome early evening as we were flying out to Athens the following morning.

Italy is both Mike an I's favorite country so far...perhaps we will return one day, BUT so much else to see first :)
