Por fin descansamos de andar de vagabundos como estudiantes!
Leimos sobre Ostuni, la bella ciudad blanca en Puglia y decidimoS venir a descansar unos dias antes de enfrentarnos a Roma. Rentamos un departamento lindisimo de 3 pisos con un patio y veranda de lujo. Desde la veranda se ve la ciudad completamente blanca con excepcion de la catedral. El departamento de llama Casa de Colombo porque esta en la calle de Cristofero Colombo. Es una torrecilla en un callejoncito. Despues de quedarnos en pequen-os cuartos de hoteles, por fin tenemos espacio para movernos.
Hoy me olvide de la arqueologia e historia y me fui al mercado a comprar sardinas frescas, berengenas, espinacas, pan hecho en horno de ladrillo y por supuesto, vino bianco como la ciudad. Cuando llego Allen de andar de ingeniero civil (asi le decian a mi hermano Juan porque era muy callejero de nin-o), lo recibi con una comida deliciosa. Es un lujo el cocinar y comer en casa.
Conocimos a las duen-as de el Gran Cafe Tito Schipa. Anna Maria nos conto que el cafe se fundo en 1930 y se le cambiio el nombre cuando el famoso tenor italiano paso por la ciudad.
--------El resto de la estancia es tristisima. Me entere de que mi querida amiga Robin fallecio inesperadamente.-----------
INGLES: Finally we take a break from our vagabond life. We are in Ostuni, the beautiful white city in Puglia resting before facing Rome. We rented the prettiest apartment: 3 floors with a patio and veranda. From the veranda we see the city, all white except for the cathedral. The name of the house is CASA Colombo because it is on the Cristofero Colombo St. It is a small tower in a callejoncito. After staying in small hotel rooms, we finally have space to move around. It forget archaeology and history and go to the market to buy fresh, berengenas, sardines, spinach, bread and vino bianco. When Allen arrives from inspecting the city I welcome him with a delicious meal. It is a luxury to cook and relax at home after a meal. We met the owners of the Great Caffe Tito Schipa. The owner Anna Maria tells us that the cafe was founded in 1930 as the Lucis Caffe, but when the famous tenor visited Ostuni in 1937 the named the cafe after him. ------------The rest of the stay in Ostuni is terrible sad. My friend Robin has died unexpectedly in Austin.-------------------
