Ostuni, a bit more

As Lidia noted, our final days in Ostuni, the white city, were rather black. Lidia was devastated by Robin's sudden death. We basically laid pretty low for a couple days. Talking with Susan Antone was very helpful. The Ostuni apartment was an unexpected gem found; lots of space, equipped kitchen where we cooked fresh fish & veggies, great rooftop views of the city, and a very comfortable bed. 31 October at 10:00 we walked to piazza to catch 10:30 bus to the train station. Arrived to piazza at 10:05, and so with plenty of time I went to nearby cafe' to get an expresso. Returned at 10:15 and learn bus arrive, & left, at 10:10 ! Next time I'll wait till at the station for the recoffeete coffe. So we waited till 10:50 for the next bus, and we're to the train station at 11:10. No problems since the train isn't due till 11:56. In fact we learn there's another regional coming thru at 11:30 which we opt to take so as to arrive early in Bari for our connection to Rome. Ride through Italian countryside to Rome is a splendid view of rolling hilly countryside replete with vineyards and fields of produce and orchards of olives & fruit trees. After meeting our landlady, Paola, at apartment, and leaving our luggage, we go out into the Roman Halloween part !?! Didn't see anyone with bags of candy, but costumes & ooozzyy squirt goo were aplenty. Had a great thin crust picarpaccioed with carpacio, white cheese (not mozzarelpecorino think peccorino), and finishearugulauncooked arugala. Talking with the waitress we discover she is from Romania, as is a man also having dinner. Once they hear of our travels in Romania, the conversation flowed for an hour. Ghoulishly eerie chance meeting on Halloween night regarding the home country of Dracula !!
