Lesley's India 2009 travel blog

I'm waiting for my drive to come in 1.5hrs time. I came to Pushkar on the local bus; call it a cattle run. The local tribal people are not refined and very rough, and it was hard getting on the bus. Thought I'd really splash out and pass over the local fare of Rp10 and fork out the absorbent price of Rp250. Last night I sat at the Sunset Point by the lake and had lovely company and view of all the proceedings. The most beautiful smell of roses kept wafting past us. Turns our the wind was washing in the perfume from the rose farms near by. This morning as I went out into the market there was a dead man on the edge of the ghat steps. He looked to be in his 30's. It would be considered good luck/karma to die on the edge of Pushkar lake on full moon. Have met this really interesting lady from London while here. She is a big art dealer that went throo the hoop with the recession. Her clients are the rich and famous and I heard some very interesting stories while chatting to her. She has gone nuts buying here as she has spotted the quality straight away. Last night she bought a hand embroidered coat from Afghanistan. It is stunning. Something I would not wear but considering the circles she moves in, it would go down very well at London parties. It weighs a tonne and should be very warm in English winters. Could not believe how much space there was on the streets this morning. People have left in droves due to the festival being over. I'm noticing things I have never seen before due to being obscured by the masses of bodies.

Be in Delhi tonight
