Hi All,
Well my final morning in Phuket did not go smoothly - grrr..I went off my nut, had organised a taxi the night before to pick me up at 8.30am...thought that would be ample time to get to the Airport with time to spare....Well...how wrong I was....it was 8.40am and my cabby still hadn't arrived.....hmmmmm..Mazzie thinks there is a problem here...I waited 5 more minutes...still nothing...So I approached reception and asked them to ring him...and he said that I called him and cancelled....I said I don't think so...why on earth would I cancel if I need to go to the airport? So reception said how much was it going to be and I told them it was going to cost me 500THB (which I still think is way too much) and they said we can only do it for 700THB, I told them I only have the 500 left and proceeded to ask them if they can help and they said no unless you have 700. I told them to forget it I don't have anymore than 500 left (I told a fib), I then called this cabby again & asked why he hadn't picked me up and he said that I cancelled the booking and I told him I hadn't ....story is...this is my version (I think they got the room numbers mixed up) I think someone probably had a similar room number and of course he just assumed that it was my room number....grrrrrr not happy. I said are you going to pick me up or not...so he said I will call a friend of mine...(yeah right whatever). In the meantime, the hotel reception called me back in and said they would get their driver to take me to the airport for the 500 (phew....I won that battle)....so 8.55am we are heading to the airport...in peak hour (peak hour that you would have no idea of over here), finally get there with 20mins to spare to check the luggage in and board that plane. Phew....I didn't think I would make it!!! So that has left a sour taste in my mouth I can tell ya!!! This is a person that likes to be at the airport early enough in case of any problems....man these people are way too sedate...need to pinch them in the arse hahahahahaha.
So now...have arrived in Phnom Penh...first impression...way way hot...the airline said it was 27 degrees yeah right think again, came out of the airport driving toward the hotel and there is one of those digital readings showing 38 degrees...now that seemed more like it!! Well motorbikes galore over here...I thought Thailand was bad for them....I think there is 20 motorbikes for every one car that you see.
Can't upload any photos at this stage...as firstly I haven't made many and secondly they don't have the facility to do it...I only have the screen and the keyboard in front of me...so maybe at a later stage.. So I am here for 6 days...we are still 3 1/2 hours behind you guys. I am now just awaiting to meet up with the tour guide to get the gist of what is going to happen over the next 6 days. So until my next report...goodbye for now.
