Hi Guys
Safe and sound in Venice.
Took some shots that go with my entry yesterday.
Well today was train day we started it with a great breakfast the hotel followed by a slow walk to the train station. The train station was full of shops and people we were lucky to find solace in the Euro-star lounge were we relaxed and waited.
Lesson #1 for the day
Coffee in Italy makes the strongest Starbucks taste like water
I was excited about riding the train and was not disappointed.I have traveled quite fast on the rail and this was like the difference between a Harley and a Hayabusa. We reached speeds 250 Kms a hour. We still got a good view of the countryside even at that speed.
Stephs weather luck ran out and it was raining on arrival in Venice. We took a water taxi to the hotel believe it or not a beautiful wood boat upholstered like a Tijuana Taxi,baby-blue velor anyone?
Lesson#2 for the day
Buy a good umbrella before you get there. The ones they sell you outside the station last about a block.I paid ten euro and they wanted fifty. They lasted long enough to get us to the Hotel so it was okay.
Lesson#3 for the day
Bring a fat wallet around the tourist areas.Hit the backstreets cheaper the farther you get from the tourist areas. We enjoyed stopping at snack cafes the food is fresh and good.
We had a good walk and then headed back to our Hotel. It is just neat here we look forward to our day tomorrow exploring more of the backstreets as well as the must see places.
Chow for now
