It's as hot in Toronto as it was in Singapore, and I am loving it, having left the the southern hemisphere and it's winter weather!!! I have adjusted well to jetlag, considering the time difference and amount of time I have spent traveling in the past four days, and took advantage of waking up early and went cycling in downtown and on the Toronto Islands! What a lovely city! I went to City Hall and visited the Green Roof Infrastructure Demonstration Project, which discusses urban agriculture, permaculture, and other green initiatives for the City of Toronto and beyond. Did you know that a green roof can reduce energy costs in buildings by keeping them cool in the summer and insulating them in the winter, not to mention maintaining a constant roof temperature!
Anyway, then I took a ferry from Harbor Front to the Toronto Islands and enjoyed the peace, quiet and sunshine, until a thunderstorm rolled in and I went back to town. I'm staying with Carol Cady (a teacher I know from Ifrane, Morocco) and can be reached at 416.462.9409 until I get a cellphone number...but I might just wait until I get back to DC to buy another SIM card, as I already have 5 from all over the world, and a Canadian one seems a bit useless, seeing as I am staying in a home with a phone and highspeed internet connection! Got to run and have lunch...then off to do some more work/research!
Peace,
Daniel
