Sep 18, 2009 - Gee Whiz in Geelong.

Geelong and the Wooden Statues. ... Friday 18th September 2009 After the rain it’s good to have a dry day and we have a nice drive after visiting the Geelong waterfront – and taking pictures of the “statues”. ... We are a little nervous about driving through Melbourne as it has toll roads and we don’t really wan to get onto those – it also is famous for it’s “hook turns” at some traffic lights– where if you want to turn right, you get into the LEFT Lane and go as far forward, across the road, and then wait until the lights change and turn with the traffic at your back – Why, in God’s name? The cars are still blocking a lane and only allowing one lane to go straight ahead – maybe it’s to do with the Trams! Any how, with Carolyn’s good navigation through town we arrive at the apartment without incident and without any shouting! The apartment is really nice and we get in OK – then off to the shops, to stock up and then clean out the camper before a walk up the prom and drinks at the Esplanade Hotel (Espy) – then we return along the buzzy Acland Street.Geelong and the Wooden Statues. ...
