We had looked forward to arriving in Broome since leaving Darwin but sadly it didn't live up to expectations. ... As we rounded the corner from the highway and neared the coast the humidity filled the car and hit us like stepping into a sauna, far worse than Darwin! On the way to Broome we passed a ford (about a foot deep) and decided we should take a photo of Hugo cruising through it, even though he didn't seem to like the first time. ... It's clear to see why people travel so far to holiday in Broome. ... The reason for heading to Broome was to get some work so we decided we'd start looking for work tomorrow, just as soon as we'd relaxed at the camp site for the day drinking. ... I called her Marge, from the Simpsons (not to her face of course, she'd have kicked my head in), which is as close as I can describe her, but without the purple hair! We stayed in Broome for about 6 days, throughout which time random people from the camp site would approach us in a bar and ask Bruton how his night went the other night! It turns out we were only a couple of days from the full moon, when Broome advertises its "staircase to the moon". ... Basically, the full moon rises over the sea, on the city beach side of Broome. ...
