I did some research on the net tonight (you try finding nightlife in Eucla) and looked at hypothetically, where that sort of distance would have got us. ... If we had set off from Sydney and driven direct to London we would have got there in early October, turned and driven past San Francisco three days ago and now have been heading to Honolulu.Yesterday I mentioned that the metropolis of Balladonia had its own airport. Nov 13, 2009 - Margaret River to Esperance
Thursday 12th November Gary: What can I say, a long dull drive through several lifetimes of scrubby plants, a couple of nice towns, over a couple of rivers, past endless wheat fields until at last the line of signboard advertisements for accommodation let me know we were close to Esperance. ... Esperance is a lovely town located on and nearby some of the most spectacular beaches we’ve seen on this trip and for those of you who have been following this blog; you know we’ve seen a lot of them. ... We stopped by a wind farm and discovered that it provides Esperance with 27% of its power which is a pretty good chunk and hopefully this type of renewable energy will increase in the future. ... Back in town we stopped by the old tanker jetty, now a ruin but providing shade for Esperance’s most well known resident – Sammy the Seal. ... I could sit and watch the water all day but we headed back into town and stopped off at Esperance’s Museum, a huge display of historical items seemingly without any semblance of order, items ranging from a steam engine to old cars to farming machinery to old clothes to old jars of Marmite. ...
