Since medieval times – and I'm talking about the dawn of the last millenium – Europeans have been using the Danube River as a major transportation highway. On the drive from Munich to Vienna we drove parallel to the Danube on the Autobahn. ... The GPS was a god send once again as we wound our way through the busy, narrow streets of Vienna. ... Mike and I spent the day in Salzburg, Austria on Monday and was very impressed with the small city in the Alps. ... We were able to do the entire city in less than 5 hours, which included Mirabelle gardens, the old city (which was filled with beautiful churches, statues, and fountains),the castle on Monchsberg for some nice views of the small city overlooking the mountains.Mike and I spent the day in Salzburg, Austria on Monday and was very impressed with the small city in the Alps. ... This morning I had to be at the Spanish Riding School at 10am to watch the Morning Exercise. Sachertorte was invented at the Hotel Sacher here in Vienna (which is near the Opera House), and it is a rich layered chocolate cake with apricot jam in the centre layer. ...
