Unbelievably it took us 5 bus rides and 1 short ferry crossing to do the 200k trip from Miri to Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB), the capital of the oil rich state of Brunei. ... There are 4 countries in the world that require a visa to get into Brunei, who would of thought Australia would be one of them! But upon visiting the Sultans museum where he has gifts from different countries we realised there were no gifts from Australia, that must be why we need a visa!! Someone send him a present! For our fellow travellers reading this blog, you can get a visa on arrival but the customs officers arent very happy about the extra stamp and paperwork they have to do! We were told it would cost us B$20.There are 4 countries in the world that require a visa to get into Brunei, who would of thought Australia would be one of them! A karate movie scatters yells, crashing, and thuds around us like the splinters of a chair smashed to smithereens. In retrospect, this is probably the greatest variety in transportation we've ever had on our trip in one day: a taxi to the ferry terminal, two ferries to Brunei, a bus downtown, another bus to our hotel, and a speedboat back and forth to dinner! With one day to explore the city of Bandar Seri Begawan (generally known as "BSB"), we wake early to walk the two km into town. ...
