We arrived at our stop for the day in the early aftermoon; so decided to go on a hike down to see the falls, as in Grand Falls. ... We thoroughly enjoyed the beauty and ruggedness of the trail through the woods, taking some photos along the way, before heading over to view the nearby Atlantic salmon as they struggle for their survival, performing amazing jumps up convoluted river systems.We arrived at our stop for the day in the early aftermoon; so decided to go on a hike down to see the falls, as in Grand Falls. ... Jul 22, 2009 - Day 44 Grand Falls-Windsor

We left Portland Creek Campground early this morning. We drove back through Gros Morne National Park and on as far as Grand Falls-Windsor where we pulled into Sanger Memorial Campground. ... This was very interesting as the Atlantic Salmon are running at nearly their peak season right now and the Exploits River in Grand Falls-Windsor is one of the primary paths for the running salmon. ... This interpretive center was built next to a large waterfall that was partially natural and partially man made for the Bowater Company.We left Portland Creek Campground early this morning. Jul 2, 2009 - traveling to Grand Falls

July 2, 2009 beginning mileage 139330 ending 139616 traveled 286 miles Buddy got up early this morning to go over to the Dodge dealer to see if they can work on the truck it has started acting up again, they could not get to it today at all maybe tomorrow so we decided to drive on, he went easy with it and did not use cruise control so did not have much trouble with it. We stopped at the Dodge dealer in Gander they did not have the parts they it may need so we headed onto Grand Falls which is where we were going to stop anyway, we went straight to the dodge dealer they did not have the parts and said it would take a week or more to get so we’ll move on tomorrow. ... Jun 26, 2009 - Grand Falls

June 26, 2009 beginning mileage 138591 We got a late start today as we slept in, but no big deal we don’t have a schedule, we got on the Trans Canadian Highway (TCH) and headed to Twillingate, we had planned to go on straight there, however when we got to Grand Falls we stopped by the visitor center to find out where Wal Mart was and found out they have a salmon fish interpretive center and a logging museum so we decided to camp here for the night and we went to see the museum the mosqitos were so bad we had to rush through, then we drove on over the salmon interpretive center where they have made fish ladders for the salmons to get through, we did see some jumping through, the lady says in about 2 weeks there will be thousands in there so we plan to stop back by on our way back out, we found Walmart got what we needed and headed back to the trailer. ...
