Hope you are all well Sorry but not able to do updates this time on this website as it is too time consuming - but rest assured I am having a blast and thoroughly enjoying all the sights! CALIENTE!!! The bus trip from Rivas, Nicaragua to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica was relatively painless although Cath became a little quieter (and greener) as the drive progressed due to the very steep and windy mountain passes! The first leg from Panama City to San José takes me to David, a rather nondescript city in Chiriqui in western Panama, where I catch the connecting bus to Costa Rica, the next morning. ... The story doesn’t sound entirely right to me, the economic crisis is not yet three years old; there is an American embassy in San José, Costa Rica, if you want to do something about your passport; it's remote to settle in Costa Rica instead of Nicaragua ‘because of some arrangement with a friend’. ... “Will I need Colones in San José for the taxi or would dollars do the trick?”, I ask him. ... The big advantage of San José over Panama City, where I felt cooped up because even for small outings I always needed to haggle for a taxi, is that it is only a healthy 15 minutes walk to the city centre and every sight. ... That said, San José, founded in 1737 and capital instead of Cartago since 1823, has no colonial historical centre to speak of and what was built later is devoid of any charm or interest. ...
