Weather: sun, desert heat, and cool sea breezes Landscape: seaside After a lot of driving through wide sandy panoramas, passing some mysteriously feral desert horses along the way, we hit the seaside. Thankfully, albeit inexplicably, the smell becomes weaker the closer you get to the port town of Luderitz. ... Luderitz is supposed to call to mind a Bavarian village, but it just seems like a run down, tin-roofed town cut off from civilisation by hundreds of miles of desert. ... Finally lost our hunger for cats and we could relax and actually enjoy more beautiful things like the sunset in the desert on the way to Luderitz. ... Luderitz is one of the oldest port towns in Namibia and when people (Germans mainly) first were settling the place they could crawl on their hands and knees and pick up diamonds everywhere. ...
