May 26, 2008 - Amazon Jungle: Puerto Maldonado

hey everyone, today we arrived at the jungle. the town of puerto maldonado is a quite bustling city with motorcycles going all over the place, women riding on the back of them, while their husbands are driving while they are holding their children, it is awesome to see, but at least they are wearing their helmets, haha. ... so afte we took about a 45 minute ride to the jungle, through lush forest, that you see in national geographic on a dirt road, we arrived at the eco lodge.hey everyone, today we arrived at the jungle. the town of puerto maldonado is a quite bustling city with motorcycles going all over the place, women riding on the back of them, while their husbands are driving while they are holding their children, it is awesome to see, but at least they are wearing their helmets, haha. ... so afte we took about a 45 minute ride to the jungle, through lush forest, that you see in national geographic on a dirt road, we arrived at the eco lodge....

We start at 9 for Juliaka minus Manolo who had a late night and is feeling poorly. The only thing to do is to wait till we get to Puerto Maldonado and check. ... The flight from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado goes via Lima so after a couple of fairly decent take offs and landings, we arrive at Puerto Maldonado airport. ... The same return trip to Puerto Maldonado airport and a short flight to Cusco at 3300m and such an abrupt change in temperature and altitude. ...
