We had actually used frequent flyer points for our flights home so we lashed out and upgraded to premium economy for the 22 hour flight home. Stop off for about a one and a half hour in Singapore. ... That damn timezone difference sure gets you - it was about 7:00am in Singapore but hadn't really slept because it was just getting up to midnight in Amsterdam time. ... Our entry point into South East Asia was through Singapore. ... Our taxi driver from the airport to the hotel was quite nice and really informative, giving us a brief rundown on Singapore and a narrated tour all the way to the hotel, but most of what he said didn’t sink in because it was about 3am New Zealand time for us. ... May 6, 2009 - Civilised Singapore

I decided to squeezed in a two day stopover in Singapore before heading off on my trek in Nepal as I wanted to see whether it was somewhere I'd want to come back and spend more time. ... The answer? Overwhelmingly yes!! Admittedly the fact that most of the population speaks perfect English is making things very easy for me here, but Singapore itself has really stolen my heart, as one of the most leafy green, clean and organised city I've ever visited. ... Oh well! Today I've spent the day at Singapore Zoo, navigating both the MRT and bus system in order to get there. ... Okay okay, it was easy, but that was the great thing! Anybody can land in Singapore and immediately have no trouble getting around the place and seeing the sights, everything is so accessible and well sign posted. ... Singapore Zoo is the best zoo I have ever visited. ...

I arrived in Singapore mid afternoon and as my flight to Delhi isn't until 11pm I've had quite a bit of time to wander around and see what's happening here. ... It has been a strange day today!!! Being a public holiday (May Day) absolutely nothing was open when I started my journey today. This is an older part of Singapore, definitely poorer. ... I saw noodle makers, second hand electrical goods sellers, scrap merchants and several Indian supermarkets – they smelt delicious.It has been a strange day today!!!
