Jul 27, 2008 - our first day in South Africa
Needless to say, Arabella and I were very excited about seeing Darren and Arabella about her first trip to Africa. However, I had to wake her up to tell her we had arrived in Bloemfontein. ... Anyway, on our way from the airport to Florisbad (an archaeological site) (about 40km from Bloemfontein), where we were staying for the first few days, Arabella was ecstatic that we saw 4 zebras, several squirrels, about 10 antelopes and heaps of cows and sheep. ... Hope the excitement continues.Needless to say, Arabella and I were very excited about seeing Darren and Arabella about her first trip to Africa. Jun 22, 2008 - Tour ends in Jo'burg...fly down to Claudine's for last week in Africa...
Did not want to get up this morning – the bed was so comfy and I hadn’t been in it long enough! Was first up again as well – typical! Ferdie wanted to take bets on who would be late due to drinking too much last night so he was surprised when I told him most went to bed after the footie! I soon discovered that Rebecca had had a good night and hadn’t gone to bed until 6am – thought I had done well by being up until 1am… Today we basically just drove back to Jo’burg. I got checked in, flight was ok and I arrived in Bloemfontein on time. ... Claudine was there to meet but didn’t recognize/see me straight away – apparently my suntan makes me look that different… Back at the house we had a lovely dinner made by Rory.Did not want to get up this morning – the bed was so comfy and I hadn’t been in it long enough! Up early again for tea and biscuits before leaving for our 4th and final game drive. Last minute gift shopping followed then it was goodbye to the team sadly and off to the airport to start our trek to Bloemfontein. ... The drive to the airport was great - literally just outside our camp we came across a family of elephants right on the roadside which was an absolute bonus as we only had a 15 minute drive to get out of the park from out camp! The drive then continued through a 'village' of 800,000 people! We were able to take some fantastic photos.Up early again for tea and biscuits before leaving for our 4th and final game drive.
