To escape the noise of Bangkok we decided to take an overnight trip to one of former capital cities of Thailand. Ayuthaya is situated a couple of hours by train north of the current capital and contains a huge number of temples, wats and chedi. ... This did not of course stop us from awaking at 4 am again. Aod chose to play hooky and take us out to Ayuthaya, a town full of wats from hundreds of years ago. ... In Ayuthaya we ate lunch while waiting for Aod's friend Navairat who drove us around in her blessed A/C car to many of the various wats. ... She and Aod were old friends and chatted and giggled like school girls the whole day.This did not of course stop us from awaking at 4 am again. Hello, This morning I left Bangkok for the ancient Thai capital of Ayuthaya, about one and a half hours north. ... Fortunately, Ayuthaya is flat as without being able to extend my legs, it would have been very difficult to bike up hills! Despite the heat and the fact that I'm really out of shape, I survived, at least for a few hours. ... My final stop was at Wat Ratchaburana which is about the only temple in Ayuthaya which is still mostly intact. ...
