After a somewhat arduous journey, I finally made it to Ayuthaya yesterday afternoon. ... And then when I got to Ayuthaya I discovered I could have got a train from the easily locatable station for just 15 baht - 'doh! it was raining hard when I got there too, so i settled in to the guesthouse, had a chat with a nice Welsh girl (although her use of 'Is it?' for any question was a bit disconcerting!), and went for a wander at about 4. ... I hadn't realised what the town was actually like - there's one part of it that's the Ayuthaya Historical Park, where there are ruins everywhere in a big aprk with lakes and walkways and things. ...
