By Mette Because we suddenly got the urge to go to Cambodia ahead of our schedule, we´ve had to revise our itnary slightly until we leave from Hanoi on March 26. Right now we are sitting in a sleepers train towards Lampang in Thailand on our way to Chiang Rai. ... After a bus ride (hot and stuffy unfortunately and 5 hours long) we arrived at our guesthouse in Lampang - very rustic, but the people were very nice to us. ... The next best thing is the rescue programme which is run by the Lampang Elephant Hospital, where elephants are rescued from jobs in bangkok and other large towns where they are forced to sell peanuts to tourists or participate in humiliating shows in the smoggy cities. ...
