Apr 11, 2007 - "Run for the Border"

Hi Everyone, Our latest adventure to fill you in on was a quick trip out of the country to none other than Burma. After a quick sprint across the street, and some giggles around the bus, we were back on our way and mnch more comfortable:) We arrived in Mae Sot midday, and had a quick lunch then set about finding a place to sleep and figuring out the border run. ... Back over the bridge (more water guns), we headed back into Thailand for a quiet evening in Mae Sot. ... Jan 1, 2007 - Drive to Mae Sot

Today began early with our devotion and hurrried breakfast. Partner's staff came to our rescue, and made a few phone calls to secure a second vehicle for us --- one of their own (THANKS, GREG)! We then loaded the trucks, tied down the tarps, split ourselves into three trucks, and were on our way to Mae Sot. ... We had planned to stop along the way to ride the elephants, but decided it best to cancel this plan since we had a much later start than expected.Today began early with our devotion and hurrried breakfast. So the Young Sexy French Canadians and Mama Mel headed off to find Mae Sot, going the long way, up and then down the border. ... And what an experience it was! Two long bus rides later, we landed in Mae Sariang, where we had read there was one bus a day to Mae Sot, and that was the one we planned to get on. ... However,there was no bus to Mae Sot, there were however hourly Songthaws. ... Mae Sot was intense, crossed teh border to reknew my visa, Buma was same as it was when I was there three years ago, a stark contrast to the pristine nature of Thailand. ...

14 November - Burma (just over the border) I decided to go to Burma today! The Belgian lads I'd met were planning to go there. I had enjoyed their company so much, that I was happy to give them some money and reluctantly left them just after 2pm to return to Mae Sot. ... Nov 9, 2005 - Mae Sot

09 November - Mae Sot I had been deliberating where to go to next, and had gone to bed last night deciding to go to Mae Sot, West of Phitsanulok, but when the alarm went off at 0630 I wondered whether to go straight up to Chiang Mai. ... However, within 10 minutes I went with Mae Sot and took a bus to another bus terminal on the outskirts of town. ... When I enquired which was the minivan to Mae Sot, a man pointed in the direction of a very nice minivan, which happened to be parked next to one that should have been for the scrap heap. ... We arrived at Mae Sot just after 1200 and I had difficulty working out where I was. ... Mae Sot is near the border with Burma and its main income is through black market trade across the border. ...
