Nov 10, 2009 - been busy

Wow we have been so busy and we’ve been having so much fun!!! Last Thursday (Nov 5th) we went on a self paddle kayaking tour in Phang-Nga bay. It was really fun to watch but dame was it HOT!!!! We’ve been staying in Patong Beach in Phuket for the past few days and wow is it a trip! It’s the craziest lunatic town I’ve ever been to. ... Monday we left the craziness of Phuket and went to Krabi providence; specifically Railay East beach. ... It was a HOT, sweaty, stinky, and long journey but we arrived safe and sound.Wow we have been so busy and we’ve been having so much fun!!! So, after exploring the island a little I've concluded we totally made the right decision in staying at the Marriott in Mai Khao. After a short stay at the park we jumped back in the car and went to a beautiful view point of Phuket town and Phuket Bay. ... What was so amazing about the whole morning was that we didn't make one wrong turn or even argue about where we were or where we were going.So, after exploring the island a little I've concluded we totally made the right decision in staying at the Marriott in Mai Khao. Sa wat dee! (hello!) We made it to the Marriott in Phuket!!!!! Oh its absolutely fabulous. ... we barely made it to Phuket. ... catching a free shuttle to the bus station so we could then catch a cheap bus to the Rail station (where we were gonna store our luggage and buy our ticket to Phuket) We were the only white people on the bus (which should have been our first clue something was wrong). ... We successfully bought our tickets for the overnight bus to Phuket and were on our way!!! We had no idea what to do or where to go! It wasn't long before we found our first street food vendor where we sat down for a VERY nice breakfast. ... Jason gave me a Tylenol pm and we got on a 12 hr bus to Surat Thani and then another 4 hrs bus to Phuket. ...

Hi All. The weather here in Phuket has been a bit mixed - always humid, sometimes sunny, sometimes cloudy and sometimes stormy! Made for some good pictures though and swimming in a storm is an unusual experience :-) The hotel complex was lovely - nice grounds, nice people, good food, good location - looking forward to those hostels!!!! ;-) We had a good tour around the southern part of the Island. ... Some beautiful scenery, a fabulous temple at Wat Chalong, a nut factory (dont ask) and saw a good mix of the old and the new / poor and the not so poor.Hi All. May 22, 2009 - Day 15: Kata beach

Well I haven't updated the blog for a while, so I'll be covering a lot in this one and I suppose I have a lot to cover. There's plenty of stuff to do here, I went jet-skiing the other day and rented a car to go across to Phuket town and up to a temple on the mountain just adjacent to Kata where Thailand's biggest Buddha statue is being built. ... That night I went to a pretty popular seafood place just down the road where I had heard they make a really good lobster bisque and so that is what I got and damn right it was good.Well I haven't updated the blog for a while, so I'll be covering a lot in this one and I suppose I have a lot to cover. May 15, 2009 - Day 8: Party town (a.k.a. Patong Beach)

It's been a while since I updated this journal, but unfortunately the high-speed and free wireless that was so prevalent in KL is virtually non-existent in Phuket and lets be honest, who wants to take their laptop down to a cafe when they could be sipping pina coladas out of coconuts with those little umbrellas on top? My last day in KL was pretty plain -except for lunch- due to the fact that it poured rain torrentially for almost the entire day and me being the 'tough guy' that I am, thought I could walk the two blocks back to my room without getting too wet and annoyed. ... I thought my chances of finding good Korean food in Phuket would be pretty ...
