So my flight leave Manchester at 18:45 tomorrow!! My parents have started to panic a little, but they've not affected me yet! Just over a week before I leave!! I'm now on the last of my uni visits, Sheffield and Leicester. ... I'm currently in Ed's apartment in Sheffield and leave for Leicester tonight-there's a lot to be said for megabus(90p Sheffield to Leicester)!! Didn't get to see any fireworks last night because the apparantly famous Sheffield fog was in, but I'm hopefully going to a bonfire tonight so that'll make up for it. ...

Hello from York! I am sorry for the delay in posting an update. ... On Friday, my Lime & Stone class traveled to the city of Malton, England about a half hour north of York. ... About 30 of us gathered at York House (built around 1590)--the location of the field work, to have hands-on experience in working with lime. ... It was very nice to attend a service, as I have not visited one since I arrived in York. ... Looking forward to the adventures ahead! *I have also uploaded photos from some of the social activities the university sponsored during freshers (welcome) week: karaoke night, the wall walk and York Minster tour, the birthday party, and the field visit to Malton . ...

but now i’m finally getting around to writing about my trip to London 2 weekends ago. ... so enough about that, on to my London adventure! So my study abroad program, AIFS (American Institute for Foreign Study) takes us to London as part of the program. ... So there are 29 of us i think and we all got a bus to the airport on that friday morning (the day after Guinness Day) and it was about an hour and a half flight to London. ... We went and sat at the bar and chatted with the bar tenders, trying to find the best place to go for the famous London night life (and I had my first Martini. ... Been in London for a few days now and knocked off a few more touristy sites. ... Went and seen that phatom show thing, gettin a bit of culture into me, and went into the tower of london to hear about all the murders and torture that went on, pretty cool. ... Flying to Vancouver tomorrow to settle in and not have to pack my bag every second day (Kirby complains about my messiness, she'll get over it).Been in London for a few days now and knocked off a few more touristy sites. ... During our last 2 days in London we were able to see quite a lot with our tour guide Eric. ... We took the double decker bus across the city to St Paul's Cathedral, then crossed the Thames river walking towards The Tower Bridge and the Tower of London ( which isn't a tower at all, but a castle). ... The day was beautiful so we did quite a bit of walking, which also included viewings of the London Eye, Buckingham palace, Big Ben,Hyde Park, Trafalgar square, Piccadilly circus, the pinter china town hat London has and many of the beautiful parks they have in the city. ... In London, I don't feel like I am in a foreign country, very similar to big cities in North America, and it is nice that I can speak the language. ... I will update once more before we leave London on Sunday night. ...

Hello from York, England! Thank you for all the kind and inspirational words I have received in preparing for this trip. ... Here are a few things I learned: “Ta” --Thank you “Jumper” -- A pullover or sweater “Cheers” -- A farewell “Hob” -- Stove top burners “Corn flour” -- cornstarch and remembering to turn on the bathroom light--positioned outside the restroom--before entering This weekend I moved into my new home on the University of York campus. ... Today I embarked on my first shopping trip into York’s city centre. ... Fortunately, I was able to make my way back to York Minster--the largest gothic cathedral in northern Europe and somewhat of a landmark in the city, and found a map with the familiar “You are here” stamp to locate the next store on my list. ...
