We made another 200 miles in 31 hours overnight. We were concerned that the fuel system would need to be bled first but we got lucky! At the fuel dock in Bodega Bay we added 76 gallons and were full! I feel certain this won't happen again. ... Not much to report here in Bodega Bay, stormy southerlies blowing last night and this morning but should turn to northerly (we want wind from the north to push down the coast!). ... Aug 3, 2008 - End of Week 1
Week 1 is drawing to a close and although we knew there was going to be an emotional component to leaving dock neither one of us were truly ready for the reality of it. We made the decision to take advantage of a weather window on Friday to head to Bodega Bay so we left around 8:30 AM under yet another marine layer and cold air. ... After enduring both moderate and light winds and 4-5 foot seas the winds started picking up around 11 to about 15-18 knots and we enjoyed some nice sailing for the next several hours with the sun actually coming out for about 2 of those hours.Week 1 is drawing to a close and although we knew there was going to be an emotional component to leaving dock neither one of us were truly ready for the reality of it. Our friend Tony Powers (who will be babysitting our house while we’re gone) is the campground host at Doran Beach, so off to Bodega Bay we went. ... We left Las Vegas early Thursday morning hoping to make as many miles as we could as we need to be on the left coast Friday. On Friday morning we are back on the road heading to Bodega Bay, Ca. ... We have been busy here, Hazel has been spending time and having fun with Darlene, Cas & I have been working at the house on Ramona Lane, getting it ready to rent. We decided we needed a break so today we headed to Bodega Bay for dinner and on the way we went to a couple of wineries, just to check out what was new for the year. ... Bodega bay is famous, as it was the site for the Alfred Hichcock movie "The Birds", not much has changed in the town since the movie, but they have a great restaurant right on the bay front, we enjoy coming here every trip to the area. ...

One of the advantages of going to a Coast Guard school is that they are usually located near large bodies bodies of water. On this date the entire class (63 students, 4 of which are Air Force, and instructors) loaded into several vans and drove to Bodega Bay for a day walk. ...
