What a magical day! I remembered my lesson from Jessica (our 8 year granddaughter) as to how to set the alarm on the cell phone. For some reason, we were lacking an alarm clock on this trip - imagine that! Anyway, the alarm woke us at the proper time and we prepared for our day on the island of Santa Cruz in The Channel Islands National Park. ... Tomorrow we are movin' on to Pismo Beach just north! Ps: Gene asked me to add how happy we are that we have now visited two of the least visited parks in the National Park system, that being Big Bend and the Channel Islands National Park. ... Both are very difficult to get to, Big Bend being in Southwest Texas, far from almost anywhere, and of course, the Islands being accessible only by boat or small commercial plane.What a magical day! The weather gods must be looking out for me. Today was beautiful, although a bit chilly for Southern California, and I boarded a boat for Channel Islands National Park. ... There are five islands within Channel Islands National Park, but boats sail to only two of them during the winter months. ...
