After spending four and one-half months at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, we are finally back on the road!!!! After spending a few days in Yuma getting some maintenance work done on the truck and RV, and visiting with our friends Rick and Ann Alden (with whom we spent last summer in Alaska), we crossed over into California and drove up to Joshua Tree National Park. ... After a decent night's sleep (I woke up a few times due to the cold; will use all my blankets next time) I awoke to complete silence, the kind the desert guide had talked about. After taking down my camp I set off through the rest of the park for Joshua Tree National Park. ...
