March 26th 2009 Long Beach California was the day trip. ... The Queen Mary and the Aquarium are located about a hour away, quite easy to get through the traffic and see the Long Beach Harbor, the ships and the many people. ... Looking across the Long Beach Harbor, Donna noticed the Aquarium, that was going to be our last stop for the day, personally, we would rather have the fish on a plate then behind glass, that's just us! I think the schools had a Spring trip planned that day because of all the children running and playing and standing in line to get in. ...

Time to move on - to Long Beach. ... The idea was to go and check out Long Beach, the main cruise terminal (and working port and Navy base) then drive up the coast a little and see Marina Del Ray and Venice Beach. ... It took the best part of an hour to get to Long Beach and, not surprisingly, parking was stupidly expensive. ... Because LA has expanded outwards in every direction it can, towns and cities in their own right, such as Santa Monica, Pasadena, Long Beach and San Pedro have been assimilated, Borg-like. ...

Mar 21, 2008 - Long Beach #1

Well we decided to go ahead and camp for a day on the way to Long Beach! So, we went and put our tent right out next to the beach for a night! Listening to the waves was just an experience we don’t really get up in AK…and we loved every minute of it! After falling asleep to Phantom of the Opera on my lap top, we took our sweet time getting up in the morning and actually ended up chatting to our RV neighbors about our AK license plates (definitely starting to attract more attention now that we’ve hit Southern California). ... After an eye popping six to seven lanes of traffic near the Los Angeles Airport and one of the bizarrest traffic stop (it had 6 different stops…or 12 lanes…all converging on the same spot) in Long Beach, we found our way to Kathy’s! After a grand tour of the condo and grounds (which is beautiful…her condo block has a garden area that has waterfalls, a pool, and a Jacuzzi!) we got treated to Ruby’s on the Pier in Seal Beach which was a super charming restaurant that looks like a 60’s diner! Mother nature even granted us a breathtaking sunset! After dinner we stopped at Cold Stone for some super yummy ice cream and then window shopped the Seal Beach district! We wrapped up the night with some lounging in the Jacuzzi before calling a night since our next day was gonna be a big one…what with Disneyland and all!:D So we got up at 7 with every intention of being out of the house at 8. ... well let me assure you that this didn’t happen.Well we decided to go ahead and camp for a day on the way to Long Beach!
