In an attempt to escape the blazing heat of Lake Havasu City we have pressed on further west towards the coast into California. We are resting in Palm Springs which is literally an oasis in the desert. ... Another way to escape the heat here is to take a ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway which wisks 80 people at a time 6000 feet up the mountain where there are still traces of snow even today. ... The air is cool and clear and surprisingly there are over 50 miles of fairly easy trails a the top where you can walk around and spot the odd cougar and black bear! Tonight we’re having dinner and a movie with Maribeth and Ken…tomorrow we hit the road for Palm Springs, after the “moho” and the car get a bath. ... Rest assured, I will get a lot of mileage out of this one! After touring the craft fair, we drove through Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City and Palm Springs, picked up a visitor’s guide and drove up to the tram station which we may ride when the clouds clear away. ... It definitely had appeal after this past winter! We stayed close to the resort today and did laundry, a little grocery shopping and took the dogs to a “Palm Springs” style dog park. ...
