Monday June 29th, 2009 Sandersville, GA to Meridian, MS We pulled out from the farm around 9 A. ... with a seven hour trip ahead of us to make it to Meridian, Mississippi. ... 6/15/09 Off we go to Meridian, Mississippi today! Left at 11:18 for the very easy drive east on SR 84 then north on I-59. ... Some beautiful old houses here in Meridian, too…a complete mixture of styles from cottages to the Spanish and French (reminded me of the houses that might be found in New Orleans) influence and everything in between. ... Apr 7, 2009 - Foley, AL to Meridian, MS

Our last week in Foley was filled with busy days and a few good-byes - most of our "snowbird" friends had left by the end of March. Since we had not stayed in Mississippi yet, we planned our trip to run through Meridian (an overnight stay) and Tupelo (see next post). ... When we left Foley we headed north to Monroeville, Alabama before heading west into Mississippi and then north again to Meridian. ... Meridian is a lot like many of the cities we have been through on this trip, the downtown area is depressing with many vacant storefronts but the outskirts of the city is booming with all the shopping and restaurants you would ever need. ... One of the things on our short list of things to do while in Meridian was to tour the Jimmy Rodgers Museum so we did that. ... Jimmy Rodgers was born and raised in Meridian and he was one of the musicians who traveled to Bristol, Tennessee in 1927 to record for the Victor Recording Co. ...
